Hey Everyone,
Saturday night was the fashion show I have been helping out with, and despite the monsoon weather, among other obstacles, it got on quite well. As idealistic as it might sound I do believe that when you put in hard work and really go after what you want God and people smile on you. This was definitely true for Alisha who was able to obtain free agency models (including Claire, the amazing model (and mom!) from the last season of America’s Next Top Model), hair stylists, make up artists, and labor as well, citing myself as an example.
Instead of having the models march a catwalk, about 15 girls were arranged in a tableau scene against an enormous red vinyl backdrop emblazoned with the words (that I cut out): LOVE FOREVER. Here is a picture of the arrangement:
Love Forever was the theme of the show and it really came across in the garments, which were an amalgam of girly ethereality and menswear tuxedo influences.
There was a great audience made up of a mix of fashion-types as well as quirky friends. I think I fell somewhere safe in the middle.
And aside from her adorable and easy-to-wear fashions the best part about Alisha is that you never know what she’s thinking or what she’ll do next. Case in point, I was sitting outside of 88 Orchard yesterday having brunch with my friends when we see none other than Alisha breezing by wearing the same outfit, including shoes, as the previous [fashion show] night and also eating the same sandwich. I was like, “Um, Alisha. Where are you coming from? Isn’t your lover in San Francisco?” She was smiling big and chuckling and said, “I’ll have to talk to you later.”
